Meridiani Planum

Opportunity · 2004–2018 · on Mars, 1.95° S, 5.53° W

Opportunity was built to last 90 days and drove for 14 years, finding clear signs of ancient water.

Stand at Meridiani Planum in Stellingo: the ground is shaped from orbiter elevation maps and photos, the hardware is placed where it really is, and the sky above — the Sun, the Earth, the stars — is the real one, at any date you choose.
