Rook Mountains

Western limb · Mare Orientale · on the Moon, 20.00° S, 87.50° W

On the edge of the side we can see from Earth. From here the Earth sits right on the eastern horizon, and the Moon's slow wobble makes it rise, hang, and set again over the weeks: the one kind of 'Earthrise' you can see while standing on the Moon.

Stand at Rook Mountains in Stellingo: the ground is shaped from orbiter elevation maps and photos, the hardware is placed where it really is, and the sky above — the Sun, the Earth, the stars — is the real one, at any date you choose.
